Quality Childcare in Isle of Dogs

On a cold Spring day, a 3 year old boy is in his classroom, jumping excitedly up and down whilst putting his coat on, eager to run outside. The doors open and he legs it through the door then stops. He holds his hands out and looks at the snowflakes that land from the sky onto his hand. His eyes widen… “IT’S CHRISTMAS!” He shouts! Perhaps it’s time we reteach the seasons!

A 2 year old girl is on day 8 of settling in at her first nursery school. She can only speak Italian but she has learnt the words ‘yes’, ‘no’ and ‘mine’. When playing with others, she snatches and says, “Mine!”, she sees food on a table, she reaches out and says, “Mine!”. Everything is “Mine”. On this particular day, she brings in her bunny comforter. Her teacher asks, “Oh, what a cute little bunny! What’s her name?”. The girl says, “Simia”. The teacher looks up at the girl’s mum with a confused face. Mum starts laughing and says, “She said “Si, Mia”, it means ‘yes, MINE!’”.

A group of 3-4 year olds are exploring a farm animal book with their teacher. The teacher asks questions about each animal one by one and then she gets to the cow. “Does anyone know where milk comes from?”. A 3 year old boy raises his hand, in a relatively relaxed way. His name is called. “Mummy’s breasties!” Needless to say, the children were in stitches…and so were the teachers!

A 2 year old boy approaches a teacher to talk about his favourite animals. “You know what my favourite animals are?” The teacher asks him to tell her. “EPHelant and a diSOnaur”. He smiled proudly and then walked off.
